Black Phenolic 18-400 Lid with PP Polycone Liner.

This is a Black Phenolic 18-400 Lid with PP Polycone Liner. This cap comes with a Polycone liner, a built-in polypropylene (PP) natural-colored conical-shaped liner that provides a tight seal. This lid is made of phenolic, an industrial grade, highly rigid, plastic with a good resistance to solvents and high temperatures. This closure fits a container with a 18-400 neck finish. The first number refers to the diameter of the container's opening (in mm). The second number refers to the thread/style/depth of the closure's skirt.

Okay. Threads are brittle and chip.

The cap is okay. The cap seems not fully compatible with Ananda’s own 10ml Boston round bottles that use the 18mm thread. The phenolic material is brittle and the threads frequently chip upon first closure, presumably due to insufficient tolerance of thread sizes. The chipping is annoying because it leaves phenolic residue on the threads which can migrate to the cone and the material inside the bottle itself. I have used phenolic caps from other vendors that don’t have this issue and go on more smoothly, and what I notice is that their threads are thicker and more rounded. I wish Ananda supplied a higher quality version of this cap. I purchased these (on my own dime) after dealing with intense cracking in the plastic cone version of the 18mm caps that had come with Ananda’s 10ml Boston rounds—those resulted in significant material loss over time due to evaporation, and while these phenolic caps will suffice in a pinch to prevent further evaporation, I suspect I’ll have to replace these with higher quality caps in the future.

    Great caps

Thees are nice and sturdy, the cone liner is of a good sturdy, ridgid poly one too. I've come across some bad caps before where the cone liner cracks or is too thin for long term use, but these caps are really great .
